March/April/May
March & April saw Simon start a large commercial project on the beautiful west coast of Scotland, to transform 32 acres of stunning hotel garden grounds. Below are some photos of the work to date, however, this will be an ongoing project given the sheer size of the grounds. Simon has been visiting once a month to plant more beds for the new luxury villas being constructed, as well as create more beds, borders and paths using a range of year round perennials bordered by timeless quarried stone.
Borders
The new border near the entrance of the hotel will really come into its own with the new perennials having plenty room to grow and bordered with the stunning quarried stone. In addition, Simon has just completed a fabulous border in the middle of the hotel grounds which he bordered with cut logs and mixed a good range of perennials. This bed should look fantastic for years to come.
Beds
With such a large expanse, this bed was a huge undertaking. After digging out the ideal shape, the membrane was laid and more perennials were planted, giving each one plenty space to grow. The lovely, existing tree was bordered with more of the quarried stone, making it the star of the show.
Paths
One of the main aspects of this project was to give guests the ability to walk around the vast grounds and experience the tranquility of the setting as well as finding a quiet spot to relax. This much needed path near the main house was created with the help of the trusty digger driver and Simon chose a lovely red shade of chipping which was then compacted and edged with the neat quarried stone.
